Lemon Meringue Pies have been around for centuries and are a staple at American dinner tables. Our famous lemon Meringue Pie was introduced during World War II when American soldiers in Brisbane wanted a ‘taste from home’. Even after the soldiers returned home, Shingle Inn in Edward Street continued to make this pie for the Aussies that enjoyed it, and have continued to up until today. The original recipe is still used today.
